FRIENDS OF THE CHILD PROTECTION UNIT

A support group for children and young people who have suffered physical or emotional abuse.

CLOWNING AND MAGIC WORKSHOPS

These workshops are held in our church hall and run either by the minister or by professional magicians. The training builds up self-esteem and trust and helps the youngsters to improve their performance skills.

SOCCER MINISTRY

RUC has started a junior and a senior soccer team to reach out to the youngsters in our community who are in danger of being drawn into drugs, crime and gangs. The senior team practices three times a week and is part of a Christian league playing regular league matches. Connected to this ministry is a weekly discipleship programme geared towards building up new leaders.

MARIMBA MINISTRY

RUC has started a music ministry which enables young people to learn to play the marimbas, a traditional African percussion instrument. The senior band has performed at various functions which gave the players the opportunity to earn some pocket money.

ONS PLEK

It is the only residential facility in Cape Town for street girls. It provides the opportunity for the girls to be re-integrated back into society and make a life for themselves off the street. (www.onsplek.org.za)

SCRIPTURE UNION CAMPS

These camps organized by Scripture Union give young people a chance to experience a real holiday away from home while being trained in life skills and challenged with the Gospel. (www.su.org.za)
